Twenty-somethings is a lifestyle blog dedicated to capturing the most unpolished and unedited version of what it means to be 20! So fasten your seatbelt, sit back and enjoy the ride.

Remember when you thought that turning eighteen automatically made you an adult? Yeah me too! Yet here I am, almost twenty, and the thought of being considered an “adult” terrifies me. We were always told that your twenties are supposed to be this iconic time in your life, filled with self-discovery. But the truth is, the future can be one scary bastard. It wasn’t until a few weeks ago, that I realized how many people my age struggle with this concept.

I was sitting around our kitchen table, studying with my roommate Andrea. Which of course, by studying we mean listening to pop throwbacks and eating chicken nuggets.  As I got up to put the kettle on, Andrea said something that caught my attention, “I am not ready to turn twenty.” I paused for a minute and realized that I felt the exact same way.

Even for the best of us, your twenties are a confusing time. Are you paying off student debt? Where is your career heading? Are you in a committed relationship? Thinking about kids? Are you doing something that makes you happy? Or are you simply just trying to get by? If you are anything like me, I find that there are so many predetermined expectations of what this decade ought to look like. This is absolutely overwhelming. How am I supposed to know what I want out of life? Up until now, my only responsibility has been making sure that I take something out of the freezer for dinner.

They say your twenties are the craziest time of your life – I sure hope so!

So where did all of these expectations suddenly come from? I decided it was time to redefine the rules. I wanted a space to document the most unedited and unpolished version of my twenties – one challenge at a time. No expectations and no judgement. Lucky for you, you have a front row seat!
