It really does seem like life in your twenties is defined by questioning. And while that uncertainty make sense—we’re trying to figure out what kind of life we want to have by questioning everything, especially your current career path—add in a recession and the process becomes extremely challenging.

In our twenties, we’re simultaneously trying to figure out what kind of job we like, what kind of career ambitions we really have, what kind of balance we want to strike if and when families become part of the picture…and we’re questioning all of this while trying to claw our way up the ladder…as the ladder seems to be sinking.

If you’re anything like me, after the certainty of college life, real life brought up a wider array of questions than I ever could have imagined. You could say that my friends and I freaked out a bit sometimes, questioning everything: Should my current job become my career? Should I work abroad for a while? What do I really want out of my career? Does money matter? Can I stand the thought of selling out? How can I get paid while figuring out what I want to do?
